On July 20th, we boarded a plane in Louisville bound for New York City. This trip was special for us in many ways:
1) In 2011, we took this same trip for our anniversary (1 year!) in which I had no idea we would be getting engaged.
2) July 20th is exactly a year from our wedding date. That day means a lot to us, not very many people get to celebrate it before it happens!
3) We celebrated being together for 2 years, being engaged for 1, and our decision to wait one more year before we tied the knot!
This trip wasn't as "perfect" as our first trip, we were delayed there and back! But, this trip was just as fun! We had a few "must-dos" on our trip that we wanted to make sure we scheduled in. Let's face it, spending a weekend in NYC, it's hard to cover many bases, but we did the best we could. Especially since we did so much tourist stuff on our first trip together. Here is a little recap of what our trip entailed.
We were a bit delayed taking off but, we enjoyed every precious moment spent together...

| First stop: Grand Central Station! I love the architecture and feel of Grand Central Station, it is probably one of my favorite places to go in NYC! |

| The United Nations building. On our first trip, we rode a double decker tour bus and drove by the U.N. without going inside. This time, we went through all the extensive security... on a mission... |
| ...to find our nephew, Noah, an Ethiopian flag! |
Going inside the U.N. was really neat, and we were glad we did! There were SO many tourists there, and since we are regular New Yorkers, we had to get out of there! Marcus, joined us for the U.N. and here we are showing just how cool we are! Our next stop.... |

| On our trek down 5th Avenue, we decided to go inside St. Patrick's Cathedral. This was definitely something I had on my list, but what we found was a dream come true... |

| A WEDDING!! |
nu=42+%29;67%29434%29WSNRCG=355978;36+348nu0mrj.jpg) |
| We were so shocked that anyone could walk right into their wedding, something I would have hated if I was the bride! But I was so glad we got to see it! Since I am SO obsessed with weddings right now, it was a dream come true for me to see this! (I would include the video I took, but I understand I am probably the only one who cares.. hehe!) |

| This is what was waiting for the bride and groom when they exited the church. We'll take one too, please! |

| But what's this? Another wedding?! YES! And, wait, that's not... IT IS! It's at THE PLAZA! Now, my NYC wedding dream has officially come true! Ever since the movie "Bride Wars" I have been in love with The Plaza. In fact, last year, Chris and I went inside to see how beautiful it is in person... it was breathtaking! |

| As excited as we were to have witnessed two beautiful brides and their gorgeous weddings on 5th Avenue, we decided to treat ourselves. We went inside the Lindt chocolate truffles store. (Wall to wall chocolate truffles!!) To our satisfaction, a clerk walked up to us and handed us two chocolate-raspberry truffles on the house. Score! They were deee-lish! ;) |

| Central Park. On our last trip, we walked the outskirts of the park and never actually went inside. This time, we walked all the way through it. Quite a workout! It was so beautiful, and so much fun! |
nu=42+%29;67%29434%29WSNRCG=3559788588348nu0mrj.jpg) |
| We stopped to swing on the swings, we both agreed they were the most comfortable swings we had ever swung on. When New York does it, they do it right! |

| Chris was SO excited to take me to the turtle pond. Being the turtle-lover that he is I think he could have stood there for hours looking at the mass amount of turtles the pond had to offer! |
Chris and I find several things we like to do together. For instance, we watch the same TV shows and it's fun to talk about them with each other! One of our favorite shows.. we may catch some grief on over watching.. Keeping Up With The Kardashians. I'm not sure when or why we started keeping up with this bunch, but somehow we have and have enjoyed watching the show. It keeps us laughing! Our favorite Kardashian isn't a Kardashian though, Scott Disick! When we found out he was opening a restaurant in NYC, we HAD to go there! Chris made the reservation, as that was going to be our "date night" in NYC.
| We got all dressed up and hit the subway en route to the Meatpacking district. I was very excited about going to Scott's restaurant, RYU, but also excited about my first trip to the Meatpacking district! |
| Not the best picture, but it is very dark in RYU. It has a very romantic feel, and everything about the restaurant is so neat! Our table was right next to where the Kardashians sat during the grand opening. I will spare all you Kardashian-haters the picture, though! ;) |
| We loved the glasses, can we register for these? |
| Earlier in the day we had sushi and edamame at a plaze called Amaze... it's true it was amaze-ing! So we decided against edamame at RYU, but when the waitress said it was one of their top items, we couldn't resist. It was by far the best edamame we had ever tasted! |
| Who doesn't love starting their day off with a giant Bull?! The Wall St. bull was crawling with tourists, so we just took a side photo. Our favorite quote: "Grab his balls, honey! Just like you do at home!" - 65 year old man to his wife. |
| Mister Softee! Wall St. Ice Cream! |
| The vanilla cone dipped in cherry... to die for! |
| Of course, I had to get my signature picture! |
| Sunday, July 22nd we are heading to the Ventura (the yacht Chris had privately charted to propose to me on!) to take another sail in celebration of our happy engagement! On our way, Marcus and I did some modeling, because we roll like that. |
| I took this in the World Financial Center. I sent it to Chris and said, "Wow, look at that ring!" I can't fool him, he knew it was the flash... |
| Walking to the yacht! |
| We made it! It felt so good to be back where it all happened exactly a year ago. |
| The wind was perfect today! Chris snapped this pic of me next to Sarah, we met several New Yorkers on the sail. It was so much fun! |
| It was our last night in New York, so we went off with a bang! Especially after I snapped this pic in the subway... #YOLO |
nu=42+%29;67%29434%29WSNRCG=3559794972348nu0mrj.jpg) |
| Our last day in NYC :( We hit up some sushi at Haru before it was time to fly out. There wasn't a single piece of sushi I didn't like during our NYC trip. Mmm! |
nu=42+%29;67%29434%29WSNRCG=355979+;32348nu0mrj.jpg) |
| I'm not sure what this was... but it was on Chris' plate! |
nu=42+%29;67%29434%29WSNRCG=35597999+348nu0mrj.jpg) |
| He doesn't let food go to waste.... |
| |
| And so it is time to say, "Farewell, until next time, New York City! We'll be back!" Oh, but wait, we will still be here for another.... 2 hours! Our flight was delayed, while we were on board, but we made the best of it: |

| Once our plane was high in the sky, I noticed something the sun did to my ring. The whole airplane was one big sparkle! :) |
Overall, it was a great trip! I love all of our ridiculous adventures and New York City will always be a magical and romantic place to me!
Thanks for my anniversary trip, Chris! I love you!
