Wedding Registry

This past Saturday we were supposed to have our engagement pictures taken.  Unfortunately, it rained.  So we had to reschedule them.

Rarely do Chris and I ever have an open Saturday so we thought we would milk it for all it was worth!

First, we went to look at men's wedding rings!  It was soo weird seeing Chris with a ring on his finger! We are both used to me wearing a ring, just not him!  We looked at a couple different places and he picked one out that we both loved!

Next, we went to look at bridesmaid dresses.  I know, I know... Chris and I aren't exactly the ones who should go pick those out.  Don't worry, we didn't! We just thought it would be fun to look with each other and I even tried some on! It was nice to get Chris' opinion on the girl's dresses since he won't be going with us to pick them out!

Finally, we registered for our wedding gifts!! Ok, not all of them and it was really a mess!  We went to Bed, Bath and Beyond just to get a feel of what registering would be like.  It turns out, BBB tries to... how should I put this... "be all up in your business" for lack of a better term.  Don't get me wrong, Chris and I ended up having a blast.

I am ALL about registering for a vacuum.  Trust me, it's been on my list for awhile.  But after standing in the aisle for ten minutes waiting for them to show me a vacuum that may or may not have good "suckage" its actually literally really sucky!

Unknowingly, Chris snapped this pic of my ever so enthused face!

Just give me a scanner and let me be!!

I scanned our first registered item!  I was so excited!

Chris was up next, he found something he liked... Scan it, baby!!

We had a ton of fun registering for all of the five items we scanned.  Yes, five.  Did I mention we found out that we are really bad at registering?

Bed, Bath and Beyond, it's been real.  Unfortunately, we decided not to register with you.

The next day we went to Macy's and Williams-Sonoma and it turns out we are actually GOOD at registering!  That was a blast too! Especially finding all the items we actually want to fill our home with!

Wedding Cake Tasting

Chris and I have enjoyed just about every bit of planning our wedding.  I honestly can't think of one thing we haven't enjoyed together.  Let's face it, with a 2 year engagement we have given ourselves the best scenario to take our time and enjoy it.

We have heard that the cake tasting is the best part of planning your wedding.  Oh, it was.  We not only enjoyed tasting the ominous amount of cake placed in front of us.  But we had so much fun looking at all the cake designs!

I love Tinker's Cake Shop!

When we walked in, we saw so many cake displays, pictures and designs!  It was so neat!

After we talked about the design and the type of cake we wanted, we got right down to business! I love business involving cake!

See what I mean?

We really aren't even cake people!  But if cake can taste this good? Sign us up!!

 Well, that was easy!

We can't wait to have the cake we have picked out for our wedding!  We have heard a lot of couples tell us that they didn't even get to enjoy a piece of their wedding cake at their own wedding.  We ARE making time for cake!

Kentucky Lake

Last weekend we went to Kentucky Lake with my parents.  One of my favorite things to do!  We always try to go to the lake at least once during the summer.  This time, we got to bring Chris along, it was his first time!

Chris' love for wakeboarding has just recently sparked into a big hobby of his.  He decided to bring his wakeboard along and see if the pontoon would work.  Why not?

Mom, Dad, Chris and I all set out at Green Turtle Bay with our Pontoon, Tube, and Wakeboard ready to get the lake day started!

We hadn't got a mile from the marina when Chris and I decided it was time to get wet!  On to the tube we go!!.... Or, at least we tried to get on the tube!

I promise, we eventually got on it and didn't fall off!

Chris was dying to try his new wakeboard behind the pontoon.  He was afraid it wouldn't work, but he's a tough guy!

I was one proud fiance! Look at my man!

I on the other hand, have never wakeboarded, and was somewhat skeptical of it.  I have water skiied and loved it! But, having both of your feet strapped to one board? That's just not my style.

Since I am a great fiance, I promised Chris that I would try it.  He really wanted me to! Maybe later....

Surprisingly, our niece and nephew were able to join us later in the day!

 Noah's first lake trip!
Mady is a pro when it comes to boating, look at that killer smile!!
Noah learned the ropes, he even co-captained the pontoon with my Dad! Way to go, Noah!!
The kiddos only stayed for a few hours and then they all heading back home to take their nap.  It was great seeing them!

Chris wanted to make sure he could captain the boat too.  Not sure he pulls off the hat as well as my Dad does!

I guess I have waited long enough.  It was time to try wake-boarding. I was actually pretty nervous.  I wasn't even sure if I would be able to get up out of the water....

I guess first time is a charm!! Not only did I get up on my first time, I pulled a 180 turn! I almost fell off because I could hear Chris from the boat proclaiming how excited he was for me!

What can I say now? I'm a pro!!

I'm glad Chris was so proud of me!  I was really proud of me too! I guess this means we're heading to Wake Nation together soon!

Now, with only a short time left for the day, we pulled into a cove to eat dinner. Who doesn't love bologna and tomato sandwiches on the water!?

It has been SUCH a fun boating day!  This is always a tradition I'd like to keep: family, pontoon, water, FUN!  Until next year, but my heart will go on....

After we left the lake we headed to the Elk and Bison Prairie.  My family and I always loved going to see how many Elk and Bison we could see.  We couldn't believe just how many we saw this trip, and how close they got to us!

This fella is just ready to climb in the truck bed and head on home with us!

The place was crawling with Elk and Bison!
Us Gooch's love our Elk and Bison!

A weekend to KY Lake is never complete without a trip to Patti's though.  I couldn't wait for Chris to try the porkchop!

My porkchop...
I had ordered a baked potato with it, so no, I don't put that much butter on my chop!

Chris' porkchop...
 What big fries you have!

Our porkchops...
And ten minutes later... they were gone!

We had such a fun weekend with my family at KY Lake! I'm so glad I got to share that with Chris!

Anniversary Trip to NYC

On July 20th, we boarded a plane in Louisville bound for New York City.  This trip was special for us in many ways:

1) In 2011, we took this same trip for our anniversary (1 year!) in which I had no idea we would be getting engaged.
2) July 20th is exactly a year from our wedding date.  That day means a lot to us, not very many people get to celebrate it before it happens!
3) We celebrated being together for 2 years, being engaged for 1, and our decision to wait one more year before we tied the knot!

This trip wasn't as "perfect" as our first trip, we were delayed there and back! But, this trip was just as fun!  We had a few "must-dos" on our trip that we wanted to make sure we scheduled in.  Let's face it, spending a weekend in NYC, it's hard to cover many bases, but we did the best we could.  Especially since we did so much tourist stuff on our first trip together. Here is a little recap of what our trip entailed.

We were a bit delayed taking off but, we enjoyed every precious moment spent together...
First stop: Grand Central Station! I love the architecture and feel of Grand Central Station, it is probably one of my favorite places to go in NYC!
The United Nations building.  On our first trip, we rode a double decker tour bus and drove by the U.N. without going inside.  This time, we went through all the extensive security... on a mission...
...to find our nephew, Noah, an Ethiopian flag!
Going inside the U.N. was really neat, and we were glad we did! There were SO many tourists there, and since we are regular New Yorkers, we had to get out of there!  Marcus, joined us for the U.N. and here we are showing just how cool we are!
